Hi there. Over the last few months I've
heard the
same question asked time and time again both at conferences, and on
on-line forums. How do I
get my
screen captures (such as from Camtasia or Camstudio) onto a DVD without
it looking like rubbish???
The advice usually given by some people on
the
forums is actually wrong. Not because they are stupid, it's just they
are not well informed. I tried several different solutions
and
well..
.. well before I get onto that, why would
you want
to put a screen capture onto a DVD in the first place? I'll not beat
about the bush - Money!
Plain
and simple. Not everyone wants to watch online videos of your product
presentation or training course.
If you could take an online video course
and turn it into a DVD
then you've got an
additional product that your
customers could buy - and the
merciless of us would price it at a premium too!
If you've got a product
presentation, its been
proven that sending a DVD to a potential customer is more likely to get
it watched than a direct mail written sales letter. What a fantastic
Edge! Send a Sales DVD along with a sales letter for your product or
service and your conversions are likely to go through the
roof.
I
could keep bleating on about different opportunites, but you get my
drift. If you have an easy way of creating great looking DVD's without

The first few times I tried to put screen
captures
onto a DVD the results were terrible. Even though the flash or video
files looked great on the PC, I got blocky blurred images, strange
colors, unreadable text and also NO SOUND!
There had
to be
a better way - a right way - some software to do it
right. Was
I going to have to spend thousands of dollars on expensive Video
and DVD authoring software? Not quite.. I'm going to reveal

After weeks of experimentation I found out
some of
the things I'd been doing wrong.

I wasn't capturing at the right size.

I wasn't desaturating the colors to
correct
for the TV.

I wasn't allowing for Aspect Ratio
Correction
on the DVD Player

I wasn't using a good DVD Encoder
-
I wasn't processing the sound properly
and
converting it to the right format.
Now this may all sound like gobbledy-gook to
you,
but trust me when I get my teeth into a problem I go into it way deep...
My friends think I'm a bit of a cheapskate at times, so after working
out how to fix all these things I
set
about finding free software to
fix them rather than pay a huge amount of cash - which I
hadn't
got at
the time I was doing this research anyway....

...then I documented everything - how I did
the
DVD conversions, which free editing software I used, which
screen capture software and the settings needed. Everything I needed to
turn an idea into a DVD Product - and I
didn't even have a video camera so that would be even more of a challenge!
Unfortunately each time someone asked me the question - how do I get my
